SUPERIOR Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho on Wednesday sentenced Bradley Palacios to serve one year imprisonment for domestic violence, assault and battery.
The first 18 days of the sentenced will be served day by day without the possibility of parole, early release, weekend release, or other similar program, the judge said.
Palacios, 31, was also given credit for four days of time served.
“The remaining sentence is suspended and may be imposed in whole or in part for violation of law or Office of Adult Probation rules,” Judge Camacho said.
After serving his sentence, Palacios will be placed on supervised probation for three years.
He was ordered to pay a fine of $100, court cost of $25 and a probation fee in the amount to be assessed by the Office of Adult Probation before the expiration of the defendant’s probationary period.
Palacios pled guilty to domestic violence, assault and battery charges.
In his order, Judge Camacho noted that the victim, Palacios’ wife, asked the court to allow her husband to serve his sentence on weekends for economic reasons.
The judge denied the victim’s request “as the plea agreement requires that the defendant serve his sentence day for day.”
Palacios also requested to start serving his sentence on Nov. 7, but this was likewise denied.
Judge Camacho ordered the court Marshals to take Palacios into custody so he could start serving his sentence.
Palacios was initially charged with assault, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.
According to the victim, while they were arguing, Palacios grabbed a kitchen knife and placed it on her throat.
Later, she said, he pushed her from behind causing her to hit her head on the door.
