To date the CAT has participated in and provided water for the Palau Public Utilities Corporation 8K race, the Olympic Day 8K race, and the July Fun Run which consisted of a half marathon. Fun run participants included: SW1 Michael Barbee, CE3 Curtis Zamora, CM3 Matthew Johannessen, SW3 Jose Camargo, and HM1 David Branch was there for medical support for the event.
The team continues to show weekly movies on Tuesday and Thursday at Camp Katuu with excellent attendance by the locals. Movies are shown at 7:00 pm. On Wednesday night the team is traveling to different locations on the island to show movies for those who cannot make it to camp on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you would like the CAT to come to your state for a movie appearance please let them know so they can put you on their schedule. Scheduling will be first come, first serve priority.The team has also begun a mentoring program called “Scream” with local teenagers. The Seabees will teach construction techniques to help the teenagers gain experience before they build a haunted house for Halloween. BU3 Ismael Rodriguez said, “This is going to be a great opportunity for me to help local teenagers and teach them some wood working techniques. I am hopeful the teenagers will learn from this experience and continue on a path of success.”Lastly, the CAT was asked to build new benches for the Airai Elementary School. The benches were built primarily by the apprentices with the assistance of BU3 Rodriguez and EO3 Daniel Reardon. EO3 Reardon said, “This was an excellent COMREL project for the apprentices to use the skills that they have learned from the builders.”For movies: 587-1311 ext 91.
