According to the report, the double 200-engine speed boat was carrying six Taiwanese tourists when ithit into the Rock Island at 11: 30 a.m.
The six passengers were hurt and rushed to the hospital, however only one of them sustained laceration on the lips and has to undergo treatment at the Belau National Hospital.
Johnny Gibbons, Ministry of Justice said the police are still conducting an investigation if there was a mechanical problem on the boat that caused the accident.
He said that based on the passengers’ statement the boat was speeding when ithit into the rock island.
The driver was identified as James Ongklungel who reportedly fledafter the incident. The driver has yet to be found and brought for questioning.
There was also a report that the driver was drunk.
Gibbons, however, said that whether the driver is drunk or not ,he will still be charged with reckless driving.
The boat is owned by Iseley Omelau of the Discovery Tour Company.
