Call for presentations

(APASEEM) — The Asia Pacific Academy of Sciences, Science Education, and Environmental Management is putting forth this call for presentations for its upcoming annual meeting (2023).

APASEEM is scheduling this annual event during the week before Thanksgiving week, Nov. 15, 16, and 17. “We begin on the 15th, and add the 16th and 17th if needed to accommodate all interested talks.”

As in the past, APASEEM has requested and reserved to hold the event at the American Memorial Park auditorium, which seats up to 112 people. Talks are held in the early evening, from about 5:30 p.m. up to 8:30 p.m. “We average four to six talks per night.” 

All interested science and environmental professionals — and teachers and students of these disciplines — are encouraged and, if possible, to develop a 15 to 20-minute presentation regarding their recent work which may be of interest to the CNMI public and especially to the CNMI’s science, science education, and environmental management community. An approximate five minute question and answer session follows each talk.

To get scheduled on the meetings’ agenda, just contact any officer (see email addresses below).

“A topical title and a brief abstract (one paragraph) of your talk will help us to better advertise the conference, so please send us these when able to. Suggested deadline for these is two weeks before your scheduled presentation date. This will allow us to help publicize the conference. For examples please see past years’ talks via our website. Several of APASEEM’s previous talks are also posted on YouTube.

“We are also using this opportunity to continue our ongoing membership drive. We mostly operate on annual dues membership fees and contributions. If you’ve been thinking about becoming a dues-paying active member, or if your affiliation or agency is able to do so, please encourage this, and please join.

“A reminder; most of us remember to pay our dues at or around the date of our annual conference and fees for professional organizations are tax deductible. Speakers get half-off on annual fees if they’ve presented sometime previously. Group rates are available for any organization, public or private; see APASEEM’s website for fees and mailing address. Potential new members and/or potential group officers are highly encouraged to make contact with us during the conference. 

“We are working toward updating and modernizing the APASEEM.org website. Likewise, we are updating our contact list. Any help is appreciated.
