(Special Advertising Feature) — For the second consecutive year, the elementary scholars of EUCON International School (Grades 3-5) have emerged as the undisputed champions of the CNMI Academic Challenge Bowl held on March 7.
This back-to-back victory is not merely a win; it is a powerful testament to the rigorous academic standards and elite training that define the EUCON experience. Led by 5th-grade lead teacher Dr. Christiana Wei and intern teacher Aleyna Kelly, EUCON’s students demonstrated a depth of knowledge and intellectual discipline that set them apart from their peers across the Commonwealth.
Rigorous training, proven results
The Academic Challenge Bowl is a high-stakes arena that tests a student’s mastery of core subjects, mental agility, and scholarly preparation. Winning this competition requires a foundation built on years of structured, high-level instruction.
“There is a misconception in the community that EUCON is primarily a Chinese language school,” said Dr. Christiana Wei. “In reality, we are a formidable American International School. While we proudly serve many ESL (English as a Second Language) students, our curriculum follows strict U.S. standards. Our students consistently outperform national averages, and we maintain a 100% university acceptance rate for our high school graduates.”
Secret to success
When asked about the secret to success, EUCON’s principal, Nathan Smith, had the following to say:
“Before answering, I’d like to thank the Marianas High School Honors Society students. They ran the competition very well. It’s a wonderful service they provide to the elementary school community by organizing and running this event. I’d also like to congratulate the other schools, especially the runner-up, San Vicente.
“All the participants showed great sportsmanship, which is very important! Last year’s EUCON ACB team consisted of five fifth graders, who have now all graduated to sixth grade.
“This year’s team was made up of third graders, fourth graders, and fifth graders. So, the secret to our back-to-back championships is not that we have used the same brilliant five students. We love our students, and I don’t want to take anything away from them, since they actually got first place.
“Congratulations to Jalene, Nathaniel, David C., David D., and Gillianne! I’d also like to congratulate all our hard-working teachers and two ACB coaches, Dr. Christiana Wei and Miss Aleyna Kelly!
“However, I think the secret to our success at these ACBs is twofold. First, we use an exceptional curriculum that is consistent from kindergarten to twelfth grade. This curriculum builds year after year on the knowledge previously taught. Second, our teachers endeavor to teach using what can broadly be described as traditional methods.
“A simple, but effective combination of these two things, I believe, produces the best academic results. Elementary education is a vital part of each student’s academic success. Having a solid academic foundation in the formative elementary years lays the groundwork for success in middle school, high school, and beyond. I am proud to say that EUCON is helping our elementary students develop that strong academic foundation.
“Lastly, I’d like to point out that academic success is not EUCON’s only priority. Alongside laying a strong academic foundation, we seek to lay a strong moral and spiritual foundation in our students based upon the Bible. And we give God all the glory and honor for the successes we achieve.”
The EUCON advantage: From kindergarten to doctorate
EUCON stands alone as the only institution in the CNMI with a Department of Education-licensed University. We offer a seamless educational pipeline that keeps talent at home:
• A Complete Academic Journey: We provide a world-class education from Preschool through University and Graduate School, with plans currently underway to establish Doctoral programs.
• Elite Faculty: Over 70% of our faculty hold master’s or Doctoral degrees. This high level of expertise ensures that even our youngest students in elementary school benefit from a sophisticated pedagogical approach.
• Investing in the CNMI: Through our Indigenous Scholarship program, we support local students from kindergarten all the way to their Master’s degree, empowering them to stay and build the future of our islands.
A global vision for a great CNMI
With a diverse student body representing nine different ethnic groups, EUCON is a vibrant international community. Here, students don’t just learn — they gain a global perspective. Our “University Town” initiative is set to revitalize the CNMI economy and establish research institutions that will benefit every EUCON student through enhanced resources and prestige.
A call to action for parents

We are dedicated to the mission of making CNMI Great Again by raising a generation of scholars who are ready to lead on the world stage.
Do not let this opportunity pass. Missing out on an EUCON education is missing out on a proven pathway to success.
