PSS teacher summit showcases classroom excellence

(PSS) — The CNMI Public School System held a Teacher LEAD Summit on Feb. 7, 2026, bringing together current Teachers of the Year for a dynamic day of collaboration, reflection, and innovation. Designed as an interactive professional learning experience, the summit created space for teachers to connect across schools, share best practices, and strengthen their collective leadership in advancing teaching and learning across the district.

The summit is part of the broader Teacher LEAD Program, where LEAD stands for Learn, Elevate, Advocate, and Develop.

The program establishes a year-long professional learning cohort for all CNMI Public School System Teachers of the Year during their year of service.

The program’s goal is to build a strong community of educators who actively support one another and share effective strategies, resources, and best practices.

It seeks to develop a network of teacher-leaders who advocate for the profession and amplify educators’ voices across CNMI.

Throughout the day, participants explored classroom-ready strategies, including responsible and practical applications of artificial intelligence to enhance instruction and student engagement.

Rich conversations centered on teacher leadership and the school district’s Portrait of a Graduate initiative, highlighting the importance of citizenship, collaboration, creativity, cultural awareness, communication, and critical thinking.

Educators reflected on how these elements come to life in their classrooms and how they can continue to cultivate them intentionally for all learners.

A highlight of the summit was the launch of Lightning Lessons, where educators shared short, high-impact presentations showcasing a lesson, strategy, or classroom practice.

Teachers exchanged ideas, shared examples of student work, and modeled engaging activities for one another.

Participants left inspired and equipped with new classroom practices they are eager to implement, demonstrating the power of peer-to-peer learning.

The Teacher LEAD Summit reaffirmed the strength of educator collaboration and the importance of creating spaces where teachers can learn from one another. When educators come together to learn, elevate one another, advocate for the profession, and develop as leaders, the impact extends far beyond a single event and into classrooms across the CNMI.
