Resilience, faith, and mission: EUCON International University celebrates 2026 commencement amid post- storm recovery

(Press Release) — Despite the recent devastation brought by Typhoon Sinlaku, EUCON International University remains steadfast in its commitment to the reconstruction and expansion of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. This Friday, May 8, at 6 p.m., EIU will host its 2026 Commencement Ceremony at the Adonai Auditorium on the EUCON campus, honoring 23 graduates who are ready to lead and serve.

A milestone for local leadership

This year’s graduation marks a historic milestone as Andrew Romolo Orisni II becomes one of the first recipients of the Indigenous Scholarship to earn his master’s in business administration. Joining him in this achievement is Shanel Sablan, both representing the immense potential of local talent when given the opportunity to excel.

In a moving testimony, Romolo reflected on the arduous journey of balancing professional responsibilities, family life, and rigorous academics. “There were moments when the workload felt overwhelming,” Romolo shared, “but I was reminded of Philippians 4:13, ‘I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.’ That verse became my anchor.”

Romolo’s vision extends far beyond a diploma. He plans to open a small business within the CNMI to create jobs and restore dignity to the local community. “Success is not measured only by numbers, but by impact, by integrity, and by how we serve others,” he stated, encouraging others to view their work as a mission.

Academic excellence and growth

The Class of 2026 shows EUCON’s growing influence in higher education, with 23 advanced degrees being conferred:

•   4 Master of Arts in Theology – Chinese

• 6 Master of Business Administration

•   13 Master of Arts in Theology (Online)

‘Make CNMI Great Again’

EUCON’s mission is deeply rooted in the belief that education is the cornerstone of a thriving society. Even as the campus works to address the physical damage from the typhoon, the university continues to offer comprehensive Indigenous Scholarships. These scholarships are available for:

• Undergraduate Programs (Bachelors)

• K-12 Education (Elementary, Middle, and High School)

“Our goal is clear: we want to make CNMI Great Again by building a brighter future through our people,” said the president of EUCON International University, Dr. Christian Wei. “We invest in our students so they can invest in our islands. We invite every local resident to explore these opportunities and join us in this mission of restoration.”

An invitation to the community
