Eagles launch scholarship program for public high school students in Philippines

TO support the educational aspirations of underprivileged yet talented students, the Saipan Maga’Haga Lady Eagles Club and the Saipan Magalahi Eagles Club have launched a scholarship program for public high school students in the Philippines.

The signing ceremony for the project took place on May 18, 2024, during the joint monthly meeting of the SMEC and SMLEC at Marvz Kitchen.

The scholarship program is for the eighth graders of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo National High School in Imus, Cavite, the Philippines. It is designed to provide comprehensive support, including uniforms, school supplies, annual field trip fees, daily meal and transportation allowances. The program also seeks to foster community engagement and highlight the significance of education.

Commitment

The signing ceremony was presided over by SMEC President Eagle Moises Tagle Jr. and SMLEC President Lady Eagle Maria Aileen Arnold. Attended by 19 Lady Eagles, 32 Eagles and 5 “bunso,” the event showcased the commitment of the Fraternal Order of Eagles to education.

In an inspiring show of solidarity, Lady Eagle Eleonor Pixley became the first to pledge her support, donating $50. Other members followed suit. The sponsorship tiers are Platinum ($50), Gold ($25) and Silver ($10).

Sponsorship is not limited to members of the club. The Eagles are actively seeking additional sponsors and will explore partnership with local businesses and educational institutions. A broader support network will help ensure the sustainability and expansion of the program, and provide more students with the opportunity to succeed.
