EUCON celebrates 15th commencement ceremony, launches vision to build university town and ‘Make CNMI Great Again’

EUCON International University held its 15th commencement ceremony on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Adonai Auditorium, marking not only the academic achievements of its graduates but also a bold vision for the future of education, innovation, and prosperity in the CNMI.

This year’s ceremony was graced by the presence of Sen. Corina Magofna, who delivered the keynote address. Her participation symbolizes the unity between education and public leadership, and her message inspired graduates to rise as builders of a better CNMI.

One of the most historic moments of the evening was the recognition of Francis Jude R. Villagomez, who has made history as the first Chamorro student to earn an MBA from EUCON and the first indigenous student to receive a full scholarship from the university. His story is a living testimony of what access to quality education can achieve for the people of CNMI.

EUCON President Dr. Christian Wei issued a stirring graduation challenge to the Class of 2025, urging them to be torchbearers of truth, character, and leadership. “EUCON is more than a university — it is a mission,” Dr. Wei said. “Through our vision of building a university town and launching the Saipan Silicon Valley Innovation Park, we aim to create a new educational and technological ecosystem that will Make CNMI Great Again.”

Rooted in Christian values, academic excellence, and a global perspective, EUCON International University continues to produce leaders who are committed to transforming their communities. With thriving graduate programs such as the Master of Business Administration and Master of Arts in Teaching, EUCON has become a hub of opportunity not only for international students but especially for the indigenous youth of the CNMI.

To further support the local community, EUCON recently announced 50 full scholarships for indigenous undergraduate students and 10 graduate-level scholarships specifically for Chamorro and Carolinian students. This initiative reflects EUCON’s unwavering commitment to educational access, equity, and long-term development for the islands.

The commencement program began at 5:30 p.m. with preparations, followed by a formal procession at 6 p.m. The celebration included beautiful musical performances by EUCON students, heartfelt speeches, and the conferral of degrees to graduates from Saipan, India, Taiwan, and China. The ceremony culminated with a powerful recessional and photo session to capture this milestone moment.

This event is not just a graduation — it is a declaration of hope, a celebration of potential, and a call to action. EUCON invites leaders, families, and friends across the CNMI to be part of a movement to transform the islands into a center of learning, innovation, and purpose.

Together, let us build a brighter future. Together, let us make CNMI Great Again.
