Hundreds participate in CNMI coastal cleanup

(Press Release) — The Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality-Division of Coastal Resources Management proudly announces the successful completion of the 2025 International Coastal Cleanup, held September 19–20 across Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

Hundreds of dedicated volunteers — including community groups, schools, businesses, and families — joined forces to remove debris from shorelines, roadside areas, and community spaces. Their collective effort highlights the CNMI community’s ongoing commitment to protecting ocean health and preserving the islands’ natural beauty for future generations.

Preliminary results show that Saipan collected 1,491 pounds of trash, Tinian collected 3,800 pounds, and Rota collected 2,055 pounds. Each bag of trash collected represents a direct impact on the health of our natural resources.

The final cleanup results — including total pounds of trash collected, top debris items, and a full list of participating volunteers and groups — will be published in the coming weeks on the BECQ website and social media channels.

BECQ extends heartfelt thanks to all partners and volunteers for making this year’s ICC a success and invites the public to continue practicing sustainable habits year-round.
