KATE King Manglona has a big heart for animals, and she’s doing something about it.
“Animals need a lot of love, and the people who care for the most unwanted animals need all the support they can get,” said the 12- year old Saipan International Student.
Kate has four dogs and two cats at home, all rescues.
Kate’s mission is to explain to people how there are animals out there that need help, and how important it is to help bring resources to the people who work tirelessly and volunteer their time in animal shelters. Mom, Janet King, and daughter got an idea. Why not use Kate’s artistic talent and combine it with the help of a very successful local artist, Victoria Sewell, to come up with a fun event to raise funds for the Saipan Humane Society?
“I organized this event because I wanted to donate the money we raise to the Humane Society of Saipan,” said Kate. “Every cent we raise will go to the Humane Society of Saipan for whatever they need.”
The fundraising art event will take place at Marianas Creations on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023 at 7 p.m. It includes a blank wooden directional sign, paint to use provided by Victoria Sewell, and a starting fee of $25, with the option to donate more for the animal shelter.
What do you do exactly? According to Kate, “paint a message or something cute.”
Price is $25 minimum, per sign, per board. For more information, contact Marianas Creations at (670) 783-1924.
