TINIAN community members gathered at JC Café to dance, sing and enjoy the live band performance on Saturday, which was March Madness Special Night.
A collaboration between JC Café and Black Micro Construction, the live music event drew a crowd of over 100 people.
The big night featured JC’s Black Bird Band, which was formed recently by restaurant staffers with musical talents and members of the Black Micro Construction Band.
“They have good chemistry,” JC Café operations manager Lot Bunao said.
As for the new band’s name, “Black” refers to Black Micro while “Bird” was suggested by Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan in honor of Sali, a bird species found on Tinian and other Micronesian islands.
The band members are Eddie Q. Baltazar, Randy Jacob, Elmer Mercader, Eric John Catindig, Ronnie Malbarosa, Edwin Sta. Teresa, Emil Gammad, Joy Villagomez, Stephahie Gomez and Harryzel “Ara” Alvarez.
The band also performed at Tinian’s annual Pika Festival on Feb. 17.
Bunao said the band made March Madness a successful event at JC Café, which is now planning to make it a monthly musical event on Tinian.
On behalf of JC Café management and staff, Bunao thanked “all the customers who came to the musical event last Saturday, and a big thank you to the members of the Black Micro Construction Band, without whom the JC’s Black Bird Band wouldn’t have been possible.”
