Next stop: high school

Hundreds of well-wishers gathered Thursday morning at the Crown Plaza Resort to celebrate Chacha Ocean View Middle School’s promotion of 85 eighth grade students to high school. Opening and welcoming remarks were given by Principal Martha Kintol.  Other remarks and award presentations were given by Commissioner of Education Dr. Lawrence F. Camacho and Acting Board of Education Chairperson Maisie B. Tenorio. The awardees were:  Board of Education, Academic Excellence Award, Cyrena Cing Ada, Valedictorian; Commissioner of Education Academic Excellence Award, Jesse Lin, Salutatorian; Principal’s Award, Aimaan Mustansar; Leadership Award, Cyrena Cing Ada; Lancheru Spirit Award, Jesse Lin; Academic Excellence in the subject of English Language Arts, Mark Alexander Aquino & Aniyah-Emma Camacho; Academic Excellence in the subject of Mathematics, Cyrena Cing Ada; Academic Excellence in the subject of Science, Jesse Lin; Academic Excellence in the subject of Social Studies, Cyrena Cing Ada; Academic Excellence in the subject of Chamorro Language and Heritage Studies, Cyrena Cing Ada; Academic Excellence in the subject of Physical Education, Mark Alexander Aquino; Academic Excellence in the subject of Leadership Corps, Jesse Lin & Aniyah-Emma Camacho; Academic Excellence in the subject of Business Math, Cyrena Cing Ada; Academic Excellence in the subject of Computer Applications, Cyrena Cing Ada; Academic Excellence in the subject of Woodshop, Cyrena Cing Ada; Winning theme, “Inspire Yourself to Inspire Others,” written by Jarian Sablan. After the certificates were presented, the promotees ended the event by giving rousing performances of “Best Day of My Life” by the American Authors, and the COVMS School Song.
