(NMC) — Northern Marianas College 2024 nursing graduate Kimberly Hofschneider has joined the long list of NMC students who have passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses or NCLEX-RN.

Nursing graduates must pass the NCLEX-RN to be able to practice nursing as a registered nurse. The exam tests nursing graduates’ knowledge, skills, and abilities to certify that they can apply entry-level nursing practices correctly.

“We are incredibly proud of Kimberly,” NMC Nursing Department Chair Rosa Aldan said. “Her passing of the NCLEX-RN is a testament to her dedication and commitment to nursing, and the nursing team and I are excited to see her work alongside her peers as a registered nurse.”

NMC President Galvin Deleon Guerrero, EdD, extends his congratulatory remarks. “The college is incredibly proud of Kimberly for her successful passage of the NCLEX-RN. Her journey is an inspiration to many, and we look forward to her future endeavors,” he said.

“My motivation was pursuing a career that allowed me to help others while providing for my daughter,” Hofschneider said. She also noted that the nursing profession opens up many career and learning opportunities.

When preparing for the NCLEX-RN, Hofschneider found that the weekly four-hour Kaplan training sessions provided by NMC’s Nursing Program was crucial to passing the exam. While gaining knowledge about the type of content that will be on the exam, she was simultaneously able to train her mental stamina.

“Sitting down for four hours straight answering over 150 questions without losing focus is difficult. However, these sessions trained me to overcome that obstacle,” she stated. “When I took the NCLEX I told myself, ‘This is just another Kaplan session!’”

Her advice to other NMC students who are planning to take the NCLEX-RN: “Content knowledge is your foundation but other key factors such as mental stamina, confidence, and humility play a big part in your success as well.”

She additionally emphasized the importance of asking for help and advice in times of need.

“Have confidence in yourself! You were meant to be a registered nurse, otherwise, you wouldn’t have made it this far. Calm your nerves and just tell yourself ‘It’s just another four-hour Kaplan session,’ ” she said.
