THE Northern Marianas Technical Institute is inviting the island’s gear heads to get ready for the Burn Out Competition 2023.

This year’s event takes place Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. in the rear parking lot of Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, according to Ben Babauta, NMTech marketing and outreach coordinator.

He said bragging rights, a cash prize, and competition trophy are on the line.

The entry fee is $25 and the event is open to a maximum of 20 cars. For a $5 fee, residents can enter the non-competitive division.

“NMTech is invested in the local automotive industry and we want to showcase that you can make a career in the CNMI by taking automotive classes at NMTech,” Babauta said.

He added that NMTech conducts classes in engine performance, steering and suspension, brake systems, electronics, and electricity of cars.

The partnering organizations for the Burn Out Competition include Island Summer Auto Fest, Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, CMS, the Department of Commerce, the Marianas Visitors Authority, Napa Auto Parts and Pacific Auto.
