TINIAN (Tinian High School) — In an extraordinary achievement that illuminates the path from dedication to triumph, Clarize Rodriguez, a high school senior of remarkable distinction, has been granted a full four-year scholarship to the esteemed University of Chicago through the prestigious QuestBridge National College Match Program.

Clarize has left an indelible mark on Tinian High School through her outstanding leadership, community involvement, and academic accomplishments. As president of the CNMI 4-H State Council and 4-H Tinian Council, she has exhibited unwavering dedication to service and community engagement, showcasing her leadership acumen in fostering positive change. Her role as Student Council president, National Honor Society vice president, and JROTC special projects officer further exemplifies her commitment to academic excellence and improving her school community.

Clarize expressed her joy, saying, “I immediately cried at hearing the news. I cried thinking of the hard work I’ve put into getting where I am today and the gratitude of knowing that this blessing has given me the platform for a better future.”

Beyond her leadership roles, Clarize’s passion for sports is evident in her role as president of the Volleyball Club, where she has not only showcased her athletic prowess but also promoted teamwork and sportsmanship among her peers.

Clarize’s influence extends beyond her local community. She has been selected to serve as one of the nation’s six 2024 Youth Leadership Team members, pivotal in facilitating the 2024 4-H National Conference. This accomplishment underscores her dedication to fostering leadership skills among youth on a national scale.

Her academic excellence is further highlighted by her recognition as a semifinalist for the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship, a testament to her intellectual prowess, resilience, and commitment to higher education.

The University of Chicago, known for its commitment to academic excellence and fostering diverse perspectives, has recognized Clarize Rodriguez as a scholar of immense potential.  Clarize is also the first CNMI student to gain acceptance to UChicago.
