(Department of Public Safety) — On Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, at approximately 6:38 p.m., DPS 911 dispatch received a call of a reported auto-pedestrian crash along Chalan Pale Arnold or Middle Road, south of the Mobil Gas Station in Garapan.
At around 6:45 p.m., highway patrol officers arrived at the scene and found a man lying on the northbound outer lane. Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services medics had already started assisting him. The pedestrian, identified as a 56-year-old Caucasian male, was immediately transported by medics to CHCC emergency. The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian, a 52- year-old Asian male, sustained no injuries.
During preliminary investigation, officers discovered that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road when a vehicle traveling northbound on the outer lane struck him.
The pedestrian sustained multiple injuries to the head, arms, and lower extremities and is currently in the intensive care unit.
This case is still under investigation.
