President Remengesau told reporters that the briefing will start first with outgoing members of the Ececutive Branch, then Dec. 17 and 18 are scheduled briefings for the incoming government and lawmakers. President Remengesau said that it will be a crucial meeting because the review will be on the table in 2009.
The president said that a good lengthy process of the negotiation has already been accomplished which is an audit from the U.S.’s General Accounting Office.Remengesau said that the briefing will be between President-elect Toribiong, him and current Compact negotiator Billy Kuartei.From the U.S., the law firm in Washington DC and advisers are coming from off –island.The group is composed of Ambassador to the United States Hersey Kyota, Mike Channin, Attorney representing Palau in Washington Dc, Kevin O Keefe, Economic Adviser and for Palau Casmir Remengesau, National Planner and Larry Goddard, Senior Legal Counsel to Remengesau joins the panel.He said that there will also be a separating meeting for the incoming members of the Olbiil Era Kelulau and outgoing members of the Legislature.The president said traditional chiefs and governors will also be invited for the briefing.
