Continental Airlines Director, Asia/Pacific endorses Japan/Palau Tourism relationship

Mr. Koji Nagata, Continental Airlines Director of Corporate Communications – Asia/Pacific offers his view while participating with the Hiroshima and Sendai media Familiarization groups, one of the many media tours conducted throughout the year.

“First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Palau Visitors Authority for their strong support to make this media trip possible.  Without their help, we could not have done this successful trip. Media coverage we expect from this trip will reach more than 1.4 million consumers in Hiroshima and Sendai in Japan.”This media trip is a part of the continued year-around Palau PR promotion with PVA in Japan for the last several years. We have jointly conducted a media luncheon in Tokyo, Nagoya, Sapporo and Sendai in 2008 to educate beauty of Palau to key media in those cities. Then in order to try to get an actual media coverage, we have been conducting several media trips by inviting those journalists to come to Palau to let them see and experience the beauty of Palau by themselves. We have done a media trip for journalists in Tokyo, Nagoya and Sapporo this June.  Then we are conducting another one for those in Hiroshima and Sendai this time.Since Palau has a variety of unique tourist attractions such as Jellyfish Lake, Milky Way, it is rather easy for us to obtain great media coverage once we successfully bring them down to Palau.  Once they come here, they will be impressed with beauty of Palau without any exception, which will automatically lead to great media articles on Palau. To promote Palau is one of the most important missions for Continental Airlines- Japan office. Continental is the only airline that operates scheduled flight from Japan to Palau We provide a very convenient flight connection from Japan’s eight cities to Palau via Guam.We have been enjoying the current great relationship with PVA and look forward to continuing working more closely with them to further promote Palau as a great leisure destination toward general flying public in Japan.”A group of 11 Media FAM from Sendai and Hiroshima, Japan visited Palau last week on October 12-16 escorted by Mr. Nagata and PVA-Tokyo representative Mr. Shibamura Tsuyoshi.  The purpose of the visit was to introduce more non-diver activities such as Kayak, Dolphin Pacific, and nature visit to the Ngardmau Waterfall. This was an important opportunity to bring key media staff to Palau to increase awareness about Palau as the choice tourist destination to Japanese market.
