HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Science is Fun and Awesome Learning Academy Charter School, better known as SIFA, has renewed its charter for another six years.
During the Guam Academy Charter Schools Council meeting on Tuesday, members voted unanimously to approve the renewal.
The decision comes after a month of review, airing concerns and holding work sessions on the matter.
This means SIFA, a charter school for middle school students, can continue to focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics until 2030.
With that renewal squared away, the council turned its attention to another charter renewal under review.
Council Chair Evangeline Cepeda confirmed receipt of Guahan Academy Charter School’s renewal application, which is up for a public hearing on Thursday, March 14, as part of the process.
“Open to the public if you have people that would like to support this,” Cepeda said.
The public hearing is set for 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. March 14 at Guahan Academy Charter School Building E in Tiyan.
The SIFA Learning Academy Charter School in Tiyan is seen on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023.
