THE Marianas Racing Association is asking community members to help identify the individuals who vandalized the Cow Town Raceway Park in Marpi.
On Monday, at about 1:12 p.m., MRA board member Vanessa Camacho and her husband drove to Cow Town to open the park’s gate so motocross riders could practice.
When they were about to enter the park, the couple noticed that the gate’s padlock and chain were missing.
They immediately suspected that something was amiss so they drove further to inspect the track grounds, the pit area, and the parking lot entrance.
The couple discovered that solar light poles had been cut into pieces and the solar lights were missing.
MRA believes that there may have been more than one individual who broke into the track and destroyed the solar lights.
Vanessa Camacho said the poles may have been cut down by either a grinder or a hacksaw.
But the padlocks on the restrooms were intact, and the Bobcat skid steer loader that is used for track upkeeps was also untouched.
Rep. Joel Camacho said the solar lights at Cow Town were donated to his office by Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios last year for installation in Precinct 4.
“Two of them were donated and installed at the Cow Town raceway by my dad, Serafin Camacho, and MRA member Henry Camacho,” the lawmaker said.
“MRA is an association of more than 150 members of the motocross community. These members also consist of many children. After almost a decade and we finally have a place for children to ride their ATVs and dirt bikes, some people vandalize the track.”
He said MRA has already filed a police report, but “this message is to all those who vandalize and burglarize to please think about our children. These activities and parks are vital to our community activities.”
