THE Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services on Thursday responded to a structure fire that damaged the former Mom’s Round Two Bar & Grill in Garapan.
The fire was set intentionally, and a suspect has been arrested, but no other information about him was available as of press time Sunday.
According to DFEMS, fire dispatch received a call on Feb. 2, 2023, at around 1:24 p.m., reporting a fire at the former bar.
The first arriving unit on the scene was Alpha Company Commander Juan Climaco Laniyo and Engine-02 at 1:26 p.m. followed by Forestry-05, Engine-04, Medic-01, Rescue-01, and Medic-02. The fire was controlled and extinguished by operation personnel at 1:53 p.m.
DFEMS said based on its initial scene investigation, the structure sustained moderate to severe heat and smoke damage, and that the origin of the “incendiary fire” was “on the northern side of the structure (interior).”
After conducting scene investigations and interviews, DFEMS learned that the fire was set intentionally.
A male suspect was arrested on scene at 3:26 p.m.
DFEMS did not report any injuries or fatalities on scene.
The former Mom’s Round Two Bar & Grill was damaged by fire on Thursday afternoon.
