DPS: Special permits not required for private employees on the field during curfew hours

THE Department of Public Safety is not requiring private employees to have a special permit to be on the field or highway during curfew hours.

“All businesses that require employees to be on the field or on the highway during curfew hours should have a list of their personnel, and DPS will verify with the companies if one of their employees claims to be on duty during that time on the following business day,” DPS spokesman Adrian Pangelinan said.

Variety learned that some delivery personnel are being pulled over by police during curfew hours and are asked to produce a permit.

Variety was told that private sector employees driving during curfew hours must have company identification.

The curfew hours are from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. and were implemented as part of the administration’s emergency declaration in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Exempted from the curfew hours are first responders while in performance of their official duties and displaying a badge issued by the Covid-19 Task Force; any person lawfully employed during the curfew hours or is on the direct route going to or returning from their place of employment; and any person going to or returning from admission to the Commonwealth Health Center for completion of treatment such as hemodialysis.
