Dugan finally leaves Palau

Dugan was earlier deported and fined $10,000 after pleading guilty to three counts of forgery charges and three counts of attempted cheating. The other charges against him were dismissed.

Dugan, who allegedly had prior convictions including aggravated assault and wire transfer fraud in the Unites States, was released from jail on Wednesday night and was ordered to leave Palau within five days. He paid the full amount on Wednesday.

He was earlier charged with 39 counts of attempted grand larceny, forgery, attempted cheating, cheating, unlawful issuance of bank checks or drafts and money laundering. He was originally sentenced to 15 years imprisonment all suspended except for up to six months in jail.

In an ealier order, Dugan was sentenced to spend an additional one year in jail due to failure to pay a fine of $10,000. Supreme Court Justice Arthur Ngiraklsong, however, revoked one year of the suspended 14 years and six months imprisonment imposed on Dugan.
