Man pleads guilty to assault and battery

According to the plea agreement, Ngimak Becheserrak pleaded guilty to one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon upon Gloria Rudolf, hitting the victim in the face with a tire iron. In return, the court agreed to dismiss count two, assault and battery, for striking, beating and wounding Gloria Rudolf by kicking her on her back and thighs.

The maximum penalty for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon is five years and a $1,000 fine, or both.

In the plea agreement it was stated that Becheserrak, upon the discretion of the court, will be sentenced to five years imprisonment, suspended, except for 18 months in jail.

Becheserrak will also be placed on probation on the condition that he will pay restitution in an amount and on a schedule to be determined by the probation office.

He will also obtain an anger management evaluation and agrees to have no contact with the victim.

The court requested the Probation office file a pre-sentence report on the defendant by April 30. Sentencing is scheduled on May 3.

Court records revealed that on January 10, a staff member from Palau Community College reported that a student had been assaulted behind the orchestra building at PCC.

Investigations proved that the victim, Gloria Rudolf, had been taken to the hospital for her injuries. Rudolf stated that she was kicked a number of times on the back and thighs by the defendant and that she had been hit in the face with a wrench.

Based on Rudolf’s physical description of the assailant and the clothes that he was wearing, officers patrolling the PCC campus apprehended Becheserrak. He matched Rudolf’s description of the attacker. The victim later identified the defendant in a photograph.
