Earthrace to arrive in Palau May 31

The boat is trying to beat the current 10-year old speed record of 74 days.

Earthrace started its journey April 27 from Sagunto, Spain and has now traveled 12,300 nautical miles.

It is again attempting to set a new world record for a powerboat to circle the globe, running.

The boat is running at 100 percent sustainable biodiesel fuel, and a net zero carbon footprint. The crew led by skipper Pete Bethune is hoping to complete the voyage under 65 days.

The current record for a powerboat to circumnavigate the globe is currently 74 days, 23 hours and 53 minutes. This record was set by UK boat ‘Cable & Wireless Adventurer’ in 1998.

In 2007, Earthrace tried to beat the record but abandoned the attempt because of structural damage.
