EQPB approval of permits

Twelve (12) Residential Permits were approved.  These residential permits allow earthmoving activities and include, but are not limited to, home construction, septic system, connecting to the public sewer system, retaining walls, filling/excavation and access roads to residences.

Obichang in Meyuns, Koror State• PEA-032-09, Salvador Remoket in Choll, Ngaraard State• PEA-033-09, Shirley Tulop in Kesebelau, Airai State• PEA-034-09, Lillian Milong in Ngermid, Koror State• PEA-039-09, Skilang Odaol in Ngermid, Koror State• PEA-041-09, Louisa Santos in Idid, Koror State• PEA-045-09, Maria Dengokl in Meketii, Koror State• PEA-048-09, Ted Ueda in Ikoranges, Airai State• PEA-050-09, Cynthia Malsol in Ikoranges, Airai State• PEA-051-09, Gregorio Ngirmang in Ngerchol, Peliliu State, and• PEA-052-09, Pearl Marumoto in Meyuns, Koror StateSix (6) other permits were issued to the following individuals/businesses:• Besure Kanai (PEA-020-09) was issued a permit to build a warehouse at Ngetkib, Airai State.  This is a 30 ft. x 75 ft. commercial warehouse that will be erected on a portion of stabilized filled wetland area in their lot to house equipment and construction materials.•HANPA Construction (PEA-030-09) is permitted to construct and operate an 80 ft. x 42 ft. long vehicle/equipment quarry workshop in Ngaremlengui State.  The project involves minor excavation for footings of the shop.  The shop will implement Best Management Practices to better manage operation wastes such as used oil and recyclable materials.• Airai View Hotel and PTC (PEA-035-09) were issued a permit to repair a collapsed slope within the hotel boundary at Ngetkib, Airai State.  This involved constructing a 6 ft. x 90 ft. long reinforced concrete retaining wall to restore a collapsed walkway to alleviate further damage to the surrounding grounds and structure.• Joel Toribiong (PEA-036-09) will be constructing an 8 ft. x 60 ft. long retaining wall & Renovating an existing building in Dngeronger, Koror State into a store.• SDA School and Surangel & Sons Co., (PEA-049-09) was permitted to concrete/pave their access road/driveway and parking lot which would improve the drainage of the school grounds.  Permittee will improve public water drainage system as part of the mitigation of environmental impacts.• CIP-Bureau of Public Works (ROP), Ngardmau State and HANPA Construction Co., (PEA044-09) was permitted to construct and improve 1,450 ft. x 20 ft of an existing gravel road.  This project involves grading, minor excavation, filling and compaction of gravel and final concreting of an existing gravel road.  This will improve the condition of the road, minimize erosion/sedimentation impacts and water drainage system.The EQPB Office would like the public to know that the ‘Open Burning Authorization’ shall be available in the immediate vicinity of the fire and shall be presented to any inspecting officer of the EQPB or the Bureau of Public Safety.  For a period of three straight days, one may be permitted to conduct open burning for recreational, subsistence or ceremonial purposes without violating EQPB Regulations, Chapter 2401-71-040.  This authorization however, does not promote burning as it only contributes to poor air quality.  EQPB encourages people to find alternative ways to eliminating yard waste.  EQPB welcomes any comments and concerns that the public may have and can be reached at 488-1639/3600 or via email, [email protected].  In doing so, we help each other continue our efforts in helping to protect our pristine and fragile environment of Palau.
