BARRIGADA, Guam — The Guam-CNMI ESGR State Committee, a Department of Defense program, paid a special tribute to the Employers of National Guard and Reserve members during its 14th Annual Employer Awards Ceremony held on August 18, 2022, at Hyatt Regency Guam.
Twenty-four employers throughout the Guam and CNMI region were nominated for the 2022 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award and were recognized and honored for their dedication and patriotic support they provide to their employees serving in the Guard or Reserve.
As Guard and Reserve members are called upon, so too are their patriotic employers. Our community employers have endured the absence of our service members from numerous deployments by Reserve Components who have been called to assist their Active-Duty counterparts to protect the freedom we have today. More deployments continued when our Guard and Reserve members were also called for direct support to combat Covid-19, placing a huge demand on employers. ESGR honors and recognizes these employers for their great support to our Guard and Reserve members and their families, in peace, in crises, and in war.
Pro Patria Awards
The highest state-level award given to only three exemplary employers have demonstrated exceptional support to our National Defense by adopting policies that make it easier for their employees to participate in the Guard and Reserve. The Latin phrase Pro Patria, when translated means “For the Country,” and symbolizes uncommon patriotism by an employer.
