The deadline is supposed to expire on Oct. 30, 2009, RPPL 8-10 extends it to Oct. 30,2011.
The work has been extended to give the bureau the time to complete its statutorily mandated survey and monumentation of lands within the Republic by the deadline.
The new law also included a rider which reinstates the 30 years of service retirement provision.
The new law warrants an additional two-year term in order for the bureau to revive the Bureau of Lands and Surveys’ responsibility to complete its surveying and monumentation of all land within the Republic.
The new law addresses confusion among and are unfair to a number of government employees, it noted that the law previously provided for retirement upon 30 years of service to the republic.
In December 2008, this provision was changed to require retirement upon reaching the age of 60.
The new law also includes the provision finding that the contribution structure and participation requirements of the pension plan should be studied and amended if warranted in order to ensure its financial viability.
