THE Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a brush fire on Mt. Tapochau Saturday afternoon.
DFEMS Public Information Officer Robert Mojica said a female caller reported the black smoke and possible grass fire in the area.
At 2:04 p.m. Medic-2, Forestry-5, and Engine-2 headed to the location. At 2:18 p.m., Engine-2 was the first unit to arrive on the scene, Mojica said.
“Both Forestry-5 and Engine-2 units were used to control the fire,” he added.
At 3:17 p.m., Mojica said “Captain J. Laniyo reported that the brush fire was fully contained.”
For their part, investigators with the Division of Fire Prevention and Arson Investigation arrived on the scene to determine the cause of the fire and how much acreage was burned, Mojica said.
More information about the incident will be provided at a later date, he added.
