“NO police officers have resigned as a result of the [ongoing] illegal overtime investigation,” Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer Fred Sato said.
Recently, 28 DPS police officers were placed on administrative duty for unjustified overtime hours.
According to an official statement from DPS last week, it is investigating the matter as a criminal case.
The complaints of illegal and unjustified overtime involving several police officers will be taken seriously, DPS stated.
More information will be released pending an ongoing investigation, it added.
As of press time Sunday, there was no indication that the Office of the Attorney General had filed charges against any of the 28 officers. Variety was also told the investigation was not related to any Typhoon OT-related compensation.
The DPS transition report submitted to the Palacios-Apatang administration noted payroll and OT issues within the department.
The report also stated that the Office of the Public Auditor should audit overtime at DPS for potential fraud.
