FORMER Sen. Maria Frica T. Pangelinan on Friday was unanimously elected as the new board chair of the Marianas Public Land Trust.
Former Rep. Vianney B. Hocog is the new vice chairman and former Speaker Pedro Paduna R. Guerrero is the new treasurer. Former Rep. Martin B. Ada and Pete Q. Cruz are the other board members.
In an interview, Ada, the former chairman, said, “I really wanted to see a first female chairperson for MPLT.”
He said he supports Pangelinan because she has the educational background, knowledge and experience for the job.
“She makes great decisions,” he added. “We have confidence in her.”
In his 10 years as an MPLT board member, Ada served as chairman for seven years.
“I want to give others a chance and the opportunity to take the leadership. I believe in sharing the position of the chair so I am glad that former Senator Pangelinan is willing to take it now.”
