FSM college mourns passing of Professor Segal

The first departure was on July 31, 2008, when Harvey retired from the college at age 81. It was during that time when he received his honorary emeritus status. This title is conferred on a retiring faculty of the college who has been employed as a faculty member for at least 20 years; hold the rank of professor; be at least 65 years of age; has high level accomplishments while at the college; and recommended by the division chair. Harvey was the first recipient of this prestigious award from the college.

Born in Boston Massachusetts, Harvey moved to Micronesia in 1964 and served the islands as a teacher. He was buried at his family property in Kosrae on Jan. 14.
