FSM school officials meet with Mori

FACSSO is in Pohnpei for a meeting called by the National Department of Education, and it was the first for Dr. Rufino Mauricio, secretary of FSM Department of Education; and Vincent Parren, director of Yap State Department of Education.

During the meeting, Mori informed FACSSO members of the upcoming State and National Leadership Conference very early next year and asked that they be ready to address the nation’s educational problems to the body.

Mori also alluded to the disappointing reality of poor test results for public school students selected for various student assessments and discouraging results for FSM students taking tests administered by the U.S. armed forces.

FACSSO was asked by the president to work very hard on a number of issues including answering why the public schools have been doing poorly in comparison with the private schools that do not have adequate  human and financial resources.
