In his letter, Mori echoed Obama’s advice to the world to remain vigilant and not to let its guard down, just because Bin Laden is gone, since there are other equally dangerous terrorists out there who are dedicated to the cause and are willing to continue the fight, and who may wish to avenge the death of their dear leader.
Mori also noted the special and unique relationship enshrined in the Amended Compact between the Federated States of Micronesia and the United States, as a reason for FSM’s support for the U.S. and its coalition partners in the war on terror. He pointed out that the FSM believes strongly in the nobility of the cause against terrorism.
He assured Obama of FSM’s commitment to the U.S. and the fight against terrorism, noting that 15 of the island nation’s young men and women have already made the ultimate sacrifice by dying on faraway battlefields in Afghanistan and Iraq, and that others are fighting today side by side with young American men and women in those faraway lands while others will join the fight in the coming months and years.
