GOVERNOR Ralph DLG Torres commended Tinian for the vaccination of its roughly 300 executive branch employees, excluding those who have sought medical or religious exemptions.
“I want to congratulate Tinian for reaching 100%,” the governor said.
“You can’t get any better than that. I want to take my hat off to the people of Tinian, the mayor, the delegation members and everyone who has contributed one way or another to keeping their community safe, especially those who got vaccinated.”
It was in February when the governor issued a directive to all executive branch departments and agencies to have their employees fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
These include furloughed employees who were recently recalled.
According to the Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force, those who are fully vaccinated should continue to adhere to safety protocols such as the 3Ws: wearing a mask, watching your distance (6 feet apart from others), and washing your hands to prevent community spread.
The task force chairman, Warren Villagomez, said, “Government offices and employees are getting vaccinated, but if our households are not being vaccinated, that could be a problem, so we encourage everyone [who is within the eligible age bracket] to come in and get vaccinated.”
Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Chief Executive Officer Esther L. Muna said more people need to get vaccinated, “so we urge everyone to please sign up.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the Covid-19 vaccine will not prevent individuals from getting infected, but the vaccine, by creating an antibody response, will lessen the severity of the symptoms.
