Governor names nominees to NMHC, CPA boards

GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios has nominated Vina Claire Saures Ayuyu to the Northern Marianas Housing Corp. board of directors and Antonio B. Cabrera to the Commonwealth Ports Authority board of directors. Their nominations require Senate approval.

In his appointment letter to Ayuyu, the governor said he and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang are confident that she will uphold the mandates and goals of NMHC to further meet the need for decent, safe and sanitary housing for persons of low and moderate income and provide employment opportunities through housing developments in the Commonwealth.

Ayuyu is a program manager at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.-Community Guidance Center’s Hali-Inaguaiya-System of Care. She will represent Saipan and the Carolinian community on the NMHC board.

As for Cabrera, the governor said he and the lt. governor are confident that his many years of service in the private sector and the CNMI government will be an asset to the CPA board.

If confirmed, Cabrera, a former seaport manager, will serve the remaining term of former CPA Board Vice Chairman Roman Tudela who resigned in January.

In a separate letter, the governor assured Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero that Ayuyu and Cabrera will uphold and carry out the functions and mandates of their respective boards. The governor is also respectfully asking for the Senate’s favorable action on the nominations.
