GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios on Wednesday last week nominated a businessman to the Northern Marianas Technical Institute board and a human resource specialist to the Civil Service Commission.
Both nominations require the consent of the Senate.
In his appointment letter to Roland Johnson, the governor said he and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang are confident in Johnson’s leadership to carry out the mandates of NMTI as a member of its board of trustees.
Johnson will serve a four-year term in representing Saipan on the NMTI board if his nomination is confirmed by the Senate.
“We look forward to working collaboratively with the board to accomplish our administration’s goals and objectives in the development of career, trades, and technical training programs for the Commonwealth,” the governor said.
In his letter to Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, the governor asked for the Senate’s favorable action on the nomination.
In his appointment letter to Michelle Olopai Joab, the governor said he and the lt. governor are confident that she is qualified and will be an asset on the Civil Service Commission.
If her appointment is confirmed by the Senate, Joab, a former Workforce Investment Agency official, will serve a six-year term as a Saipan representative on the commission.
The governor also asked the Senate for its support, saying that Joab will contribute productively to the important work of the commission, and that she would devote her time and efforts necessary to carry out its mandates.
