According to Koror State Gov. Yositaka Adachi, chairman of the GA, said they met with the Congress as they are the one who handling the budget.
“The meeting was more on a courtesy call as the House of Delegates are the first people that should consult with.” Adachi said.
He added that they informed the HOD on their plan to arrange a meeting with the Senate to discuss the issue.
Adachi said they are hoping that the 25 percent cut would be lowered.
In the Koror State alone, the governor said they will lose more than $217,000 budget from the block grants if the 25 percent reduction will be imposed.
Adachi said they are hoping to meet with the Senate next week to clearly explain the truly impact of the budget cut within their States.
Meanwhile, the Governors of Aimeliik and Ngchesar were absent during the meeting with the HOD.
Prior to the meeting, the GA conducted their regular meeting at the Koror State Assembly, last week. One of their main agenda was the proposed budget cut.
The GA’s next meeting will be on July 27.
