Grand larceny cases in hotel in Malakal

According to the police report, at around 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, a Japanese reported to the police that his pelican water proof bag was missing and believed to be stolen at the West Plaza parking lot.

Based on the victim’s statement, identified as Yohei Kato, he went to the hotel to drop a customer. He parked his car and went inside the hotel. Upon returning, the victim noticed that his bag was missing.

The bag contains $2,550 worth of traveler checks, cell phone and wallet with $150 cash,a Bank of Hawaii credit card, a driver license and working permit.

The case is still pending for further investigation.

On the next day, April 19, at around 1 a.m. female front desk employee of West Plaza called the police and reported that the room of one of their guests was burglarized and the suspect carted away with several valuable items.

Police immediately responded and conducted interview of Taiwanese guest identified as Mr. Lin Jiunn-Shyong.

According to the victim, he left the hotel at around 6 p..m. to dine in Koror. When he returned to his room he discovered that his i-phone worth $1,000 and cell phone worth $200 and six packs of cigarettes amounting to $18 were missing.

Further investigation showed, the suspect allegedly entered the guest room by forcibly entering the room’s back window.

The police still is conducting further investigation.
