HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Guam Fire Department units responded to a grass fire on Cross Island Road by Our Lady of Peace Memorial Gardens cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
“Upon arrival, units found the grass fire to be on both sides of the road,” GFD spokesperson Nick Garrido told local media about noon, confirming it was an active fire.
Garrido additionally advised motorists that the road would be closed until the fire was under control and for drivers to take alternative routes.
Garrido also told The Guam Daily Post at 12:45 p.m. Thursday that the time it would take to extinguish the fire was unknown.
