Green 2 Go Saipan, Ice 2 C U drink promo launches today

LED by middle schoolers, Green 2 Go Saipan is a new nonprofit organization seeking to reduce plastic waste in the CNMI.

Green 2 Go Saipan wants teenagers and adults to bring their own flasks or water bottles to certain establishments and, in return, receive their second beverage for free.

The nonprofit has already partnered with a local business, Ice 2 C U in Garapan, and will launch their partnership today, Feb. 10, in a promotion that will last through Valentine’s Day.

“Although our organization is made up of mere students, we yearn to help save our beautiful island of Saipan. We figured that by saving plastic bottles from cafés that use them, it would decrease the amount of plastic waste littered and buried into our sacred land,” said Soarin Oh, Green 2 Go Saipan founder.

The nonprofit was founded after a discussion she had with one of her closest friends.

“I ended up staying up late at night to work on the presentation that would eventually be presented to our favorite café, Ice 2 C U,” Oh said.

The nonprofit’s vision is to decrease the amount of plastic waste that is thrown away without much thought.

“We are passionate about the environment and the future of our world. We are now looking for other [vendors] to help…our cause,” she added.

Green 2 Go Saipan also welcomes new members. For more information, visit its Facebook and/or Instagram pages.
