HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — “Tourism is our lifeline to economic prosperity,” Gov. Lourdes Leon Guerrero said in a release from the Guam Visitors Bureau, which is working with the Guam International Airport Authority to increase air service to Guam from Japan and Korea.
“We need all efforts of our government — with GVB and GIAA leading the way — to focus on delivering results and achieving a reality that meets the expectations of our visitors,” Leon Guerrero said.
The efforts are being led by newly elected GVB President and Chief Executive Officer Regine Biscoe Lee.
“Our partnership with GIAA is strong,” Lee said. “Recent wins on seat recovery are proof that collaboration works.”
Charles Duncan was hired as a consultant to boost tourism numbers on island.
“Engaging Charles and our team to help develop a structured long-term aviation strategy ensures that our efforts are sustainable and competitive,” Lee said.
Duncan, an airline consultant, was hired by GVB Korea, and the first of his kind to be hired in Guam’s tourism recovery. GVB expects him to offer “new, creative ways to support air service through marketing,” Lee said.
Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio emphasized that “airlift recovery and expanded seat capacity is a critical first step, and engaging the different sectors and passenger profiles of our visitor markets intentionally and with purpose are vital to our tourism recovery.”
