According to Head Start Program officials, all of the program’s personnel are participating in a weeklong in-service training, which began yesterday.
The officials said that the training, which usually takes place during the Christmas holidays, was moved to this time of the year to allow for the schedules off-island training facilitators and to provide for an opportune time for the program’s personnel to be better prepared for an up coming federal review of the program this year.The officials said that the training was anticipated and all head start schooling started a week earlier this school year.“This week was planned for,” said the officials. “Our students this school year began a week earlier than in the previous years and though they are not in school this week, the number of days they are supposed to be in school is maintained.”According to the officials, all of the program’s services coordinators, teachers, and staff are participating in the training at Bai ra Chemayong and will resume their normal duties on February 2.“All of our centers will reopen next Monday,” said the officials, “and the programs services will resume accordingly.”The officials further added that parents and relevant others were informed of the training and schedule changes. Moreover, they said that they are grateful the support and understanding that parents and members of the community have allotted to the success of the program.
