HOD, Senate confirms elected members

A House Resolution No. 811 and Senate Resolution No.8-1 through 13 were both introduced at the session yesterday for the confirmation of the elected members of the HOD and the Senate.

The HOD confirmed the results of the November 4, 2008 election and seated the following Delegates.Delegate Noah Kemesong for Kayangel State; Marhence Madrangchar for Ngarchelong State; Gibson Kanai for Ngaraard; Noah Idechong for Ngiwal; Lentcer P. Basilius; Secilil Eldebechel for Ngchesar; Rebluud Kesolei for Ngardmau; Swenny Ongidobel for Ngeremlengui; Jerry Nabeyama for Ngatpang; and Kalistus Ngirturong for Aimeliik.Delegate  Jonathan “Cio” Isechal was confirmed as Delegate for Peleliu while Horace Rafael was confirmed Delegate for Angaur State.Delegate Celestine Yangilmau for Sonsorol State; Wayne Andrew for Hatohobei; Tmewang Rengulbai for Airai and Alexander Merep for Koror State.The Senate confirmed the following Senators:  Regis Akitaya, Hokkons Baules, Alfonso N. Diaz, Adalbert Eledui, Kathy Kesolei, Regina K. Mesebeluu, Raynold B. Oilouch, former President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr., Mark U. Rudimch, Mlib Tmetuchl, Joel Toribiong, Paul W. Ueki and Surangel S. Whipps Jr.The 12 Senators except for Remengesau also took their oath of office yesterday morning and were sworned-in by Associate Justice Kathleen Salii.Senator Remengesau took his oath of office after the inauguration of President Johnson Toribiong.Remengesau was sworned-in by his sister Senior Judge, Court of Common Pleas Honora E. Remengesau Rudimch.The Senate also elected Presiding Officers and voted Senator Tmetuchl as the Senate President, Kesolei as the Vice President and Oilouch as the Senate Floor Leader.
