House commends Amb. Ueki

The resolution, authored by Delegate Kalistus Ngirturong, was passed unanimously in that august body during its recent session.

It is just fitting to honor Amb. Ueki for his long and distinguished service to the Republic of Palau,” Kalistus declared. “This resolution is one way of saying thank you to such distinguished public servant and gentleman.”

The resolution pointed out that Ueki has served the public with distinction in his more than 50 years in government service.

Ueki has, in different times, served as member of the Koror State Council, Palau Council, Senator in the Third Olbiil Era Kelulau where he served as Vice President of the Senate, member of the Palau Legislature and Congress of Micronesia, Minister of Social Services and Palau Ambassador to Japan.

In addition, he has also served as Board Member and Chairman of the Palau Public Land Authority, and member of the Board of Directors of the International Coral Reef Center.

“He made a big impact and contributed a lot to the development and progress of the country while in public service,” Ngirturong stressed.

Aside from his contributions to Palau as a public servant, the resolution also noted the ambassador’s contributions to society in other capacities.

Ueki is an activemember of various government, non-governmental and religious organizations like theof the Palau Conservation Society, Belau Tourism Association, Palau Chamber of Commerce and Bishops Commission on Justice and Development.

In those capacities he has pioneered conservation and development in the tourism, business, agriculture and fisheries sectors, the resolution pointed out.

“Be it resolved, by the House of Delegates of the Eight Olbiil Era Kelulau, with the Senate concurring, that on behalf of the people and the government of the Republic of Palau, the Eight Olbiil Era Kelulau hereby commend and bestow recognition to Ambassador Dr. Minoru Francisco Xavier Ueki for his long illustrious career to the government and people of the Republic of Palau,” the resolution concludes.

Aside from Amb. Ueki, copies of the resolution were also forwarded to President Johnson Toribiong, Minister of State Victor Yano, Chief Justice Arthur Ngirakslong, Senate President Mlib Tmetulch and House Speaker Noah Idechong.
