THE House Ways and Means Committee is inviting Finance Secretary David DLG Atalig to a meeting so he can update its members on the CNMI government’s financial status.
In a letter to Atalig, Rep. Corina Magofna, the committee’s vice chair, is seeking the following:
• The annual fiscal report for FY 2021 “which is past due,” she said;
• the fiscal year 2022 first quarter expenditure report;
• the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act expenditures report;
• the Distribution of American Rescue Plan Act funds amounting to $80 million;
• guidance for premium pay and retirees’ bonus;
• the reprogramming report for FY 2022 as of Dec. 31, 2021;
• a report on the Travel Bucks for Tourists as of Dec. 31, 2021;
• a report on attorneys’ fees for Judiciary and Governmental Operations witnesses, contract amounts and payments made as of Dec. 31, 2021; and
• other fiscal-related matters.
Earlier this month, Magofna sent separate letters to Public Assistance Officer Patrick Guerrero, Finance Secretary David DLG Atalig, Procurement Services Director Frank Aguon, Homeland Security and Emergency Management Special Assistant Gerald Deleon Guerrero and Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force Chairman Warren Villagomez.
She asked them to provide copies of documents pertaining to government contracts associated with the CNMI’s Covid-19 response, among other things.
