“It is my obligation as a military servicemember to serve to protect our freedom,” said Iakopo, a master sergeant with a combined total military service of 21 years.
“I am currently leading a 20-member Air Force team on an aerial port operation which deals with logistics, and is engaged in aircraft loading and unloading, securing aircraft, as well as functioning as a command element in charge of information control and dissemination,” he added.
Iakopo left the island in early July to fulfill his annual training at the Osan Air Base in South Korea. He will return to Saipan in mid-August.
Even while he is out of the CNMI, he said the CNMI Office of Veterans Affairs team remains available to assist veterans and their families.
The team includes program coordinator Ramon S. Basa, as well as veterans benefit counselor Willie Peterson III.
The CNMI Office of Veterans Affairs is located at 1364 Anatahan Drive on Capital Hill. Its mailing address is P.O. Box 503416, Saipan, MP 96950. For more information, call (670) 664-2650/1/2.
