Inmate who escaped from jail charged

Leeroy Stanley Frano is now back in the custody of Division of Corrections for another criminal charge. He was charged with one count of escape on May 19.

Frano escaped from jail on February 14 but was arrested an hour later by a police officer.He was supposed to be released from custody on February 15 after serving a year of sentence for DUI, assault and battery, petite larceny, hit and run and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.The affidavit of probable cause submitted in court stated that Frano wanted to buy fish that’s why he escaped from jail.The affidavit stated that a police officer spotted him walking towards Ikelau in the morning of February 14.The officer called police and inquired if Frano had been released from custody.When the officer learned that Frano was supposed to be in jail at that time, he immediately approached Frano and arrested him in front of the SDA church in Ngesekes.The affidavit stated that Frano escaped because he wanted to buy fresh fish.However the court document stated that no money and no fish were found in his possession when he was arrested later.
