New Japan ambassador to Palau Yoshiyuki Sadaokain an interview said that the Japanese government will help the country “ alleviate the electricity situation.”
He said the Japan government will be sending experts to help fix the aging power generators.
In the past years, Palau faced rolling blackouts due to power supply deficit due to power generator problems.
The government has been exploring all options to resolve the power supply problems. Sadaoka last week presented on Wednesday his credentials to President Johnson Toribiong .
During his remarks, he said that his posting in Palau will ensure a further strengthening ofthe relationship between the two countries.
Sadaokaisthe first full Ambassador of Japan to Palau. Japan has had an embassy in Palau for several years now, a charge de’ affaires is posted instead.
Sadaoka said his stay in Palau will be fruitful , providing cooperation in key areas such as tourism, cultural exchange and sports.
Sadaoka said that on a personal note, Japan should have posted a full ambassador to Palau a long time ago.
“Palau is one of the most important country for Japan,” he said.
He added that the two countries have historical relationship and has been allied in the international arena such as in the United Nations.
AmbassadorSadaokahas been in diplomatic service since August 1973 when he passed his Higher Diplomatic Service Examination. Since then, he has served in various diplomatic and ministerial posts the United Nations, in China, at the European Union, the Philippines, and at home in Japan. He has also held several important posts in some universities in Japan. His last post was at Saitama University as a counselor in the Administrative Bureau before he was appointed to take the post of Ambassador of Japan to Palau.
